Transportation Resource Board Committee on Public Involvement: Communicating the Connection – Transportation and Public Health 2016 Competition

The Planning and Environment Group of the Transportation Research Board is holding a competition to reward best practices in communicating the connection between transportation and public health to the public. Contest entries may include studies, publications, multimedia communications campaigns, websites, graphics, etc. Individuals, agencies, and other organizations that communicate transportation needs and issues may all submit entries. The winning entries will be featured in both a podium and a poster session at the funding agency’s 95th annual meeting. All entries must be submitted online by July 25, 2016.


Ruderman Family Foundation: 2016 Ruderman Prize in Inclusion

The Ruderman Family Foundation will accept entries from companies and organizations operating innovative programs and services that foster the full inclusion of people with disabilities. A total of five individual awards of $50,000, totaling $250,000, will be provided to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or companies working with American nonprofit fiscal sponsors. Entries must be submitted online by 5:00 p.m. ET on August 9, 2016.


21st Century Fox/Give a Note Foundation: Music Ed Idol Grants

The Music Ed Idol Grants program recognizes those special music teachers who inspire their students to reach further, dig deeper, and achieve on a higher level. Video nominations are accepted from students and schools for preK-12th grade teachers, and winning teachers may receive $1,000 for their music program. Twenty school programs will receive grants, and five teachers will be selected to attend the 2016 NAfME National In-Service Conference (November 10-13) in Grapevine, Texas. Nominations must be submitted online by October 1, 2016.


Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Road Tour

The SBIR Road Tour is a national outreach effort to convey the non-dilutive technology funding opportunity provided through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The SBIR/STTR programs annually provide $2.5 billion in funding to small advanced technology firms to spur new technological discoveries and facilitate the commercialization of innovations. Together they represent America's Largest Seed Fund. The tour has already visited the Southeast, and is currently visiting the West-Central area. A visit of the Midwest will also occur, as well as standalone events. Potential attendance may register online for the events.


California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Office of AIDS: California Syringe Exchange Supply Clearinghouse

The CDPH, through its Office of AIDS, has announced the establishment of the California Syringe Exchange Supply Clearinghouse and the opportunity for authorized California syringe exchange programs (SEPs) to apply for the program. The Clearinghouse will offer a baseline level of needles and syringes, other harm reduction supplies, and sharps waste disposal services to an ongoing basis to authorization California SEPs. 2017 Texas Environmental Excellence Awards

The Texas Environmental Excellence Awards will recognize the inspiring efforts of businesses, local government, schools, students, individuals, and other entities to preserve and protect the environment in Texas. Awards will be made in nine diverse categories, ranging from pollution prevention to agriculture. The funding agency will look for innovative, beneficial, measurable, educational, cooperative, and exceptional projects. Applications must be emailed to the funding agency by September 30, 2016.


Indiana Office of Community Affairs: Course 130: Coalition Building/Building Partnerships

Indiana community leaders are invited to attend a course sponsored by several Indiana government agencies that will emphasize the comprehensive nature of revitalization and the need to develop strong and lasting partnerships. Participants will learn about effective partnership structures. The course will be hosted at the Indiana Government Center South on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Applicants may purchase tickets online.
