Sonoma County was challenged with looking for grants that would provide alternative funding sources to help reduce the impact on its dwindling General Fund Budget. Christina Rivera, Grant Resources Coordinator, and her team began looking for a web-based grants locator tool to make the search for project funding opportunities easier.
Sonoma County enlisted the help of eCivis' Grants Network: Research to provide a central database updated and maintained by grant research professionals in order to eliminate the need for county resources to research, compile, and update grant opportunity data. According to Rivera, "The Review Team recommended eCivis based on its ratings and the fact that they didn't find any other solutions that were as robust as eCivis: Grants Network."
eCivis' data is up-to-date and compiled from many data sources to include Federal, State, and Foundation grants, which has greatly benefited Sonoma County. "Our county's grant writer and consultant uses eCivis as his primary grant research tool and uses the data to produce his monthly County Funding Opportunity newsletters, which is distributed to highlight upcoming grant opportunities," says Rivera. In addition, Sonoma County is providing Community Based Organizations (CBOs) with access to eCivis: Grants Network which has enabled them to find their funding sources, and resulted in less demand on the General Fund Budget.
